- About Christo Smith
Joined the industry in 2015
Christo was born in Witbank in 1989. He matriculated from Belfast Academy in 2008. Christo attended the University of Pretoria where he completed his B Comm Acc and B Comm Acc (Hons) degrees in 2014. He started his articles in 2015 with Mazars (Gauteng) and qualified as a charted accounted in 2017. After articles, he worked at the Mazars (New York) offices and continued as an audit manager with Mazars (Gauteng). Christo joined Gerber Botha & Gowar in 2020 as an audit manager and qualified as a registered auditor in 2021. He became a partner in 2026. He is excited about technological developments and how this changes the role of accountants and auditors. He enjoys spending time with his family and is involved in various community development projects. He also enjoys camping , hunting and fishing in his spare time.
