Joined the industry in 2006

Christo was born in Somerset East on 4 May 1969 and matriculated from Gill College in 1987. He studied at the University of the Free State from 1988 to 1992.

His career in professional cricket began in 1991 when he joined Free State Cricket as Stadium Manager and Head Groundsman, a role he held until 1993. He then served as Facilities Manager at the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE) from 1993 to 1997 before joining Newlands Cricket Ground as Head Groundsman, where he worked from 1997 to 2006.

During his distinguished career, Christo prepared the playing surfaces for 12 Test matches and 23 One Day Internationals. He also formed part of the leadership team responsible for the successful delivery of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup, hosted in South Africa.

In 2006, Christo joined the long-term insurance industry and became a valued member of GBG. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf and spending quality time with family and friends.
